Position Overview: The Communications & Digital Media Intern will support the Communications Department to develop and execute digital content strategies that enhance the Portland Water District brand, engage the audience, and promote activities. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital media, communications, marketing, and event planning within a dynamic, mission-driven organization.
This internship runs between mid-May and mid-August, 15-20 hours a week.

Job Duties:
- Assist in developing engaging written, visual, and multimedia content for social media, websites, newsletters, and other channels.
- Support day-to-day management of social media platforms by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing metrics.
- Assist in creating a long-term content calendar and tracking document.
- Provide support on digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, event coordination and promotion, and community outreach.
- Conduct research on industry trends, audience insights, and competitor strategies to inform content creation and digital strategy.
- Conduct research on social media platforms, make informed recommendations, and assist in the implementation of these solutions.
- Provide general administrative support to the Communications team, including coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and updating content calendars.
- Assess available photo management systems, make an informed recommendation, and begin implementing the selected solution.
- Work closely with the Portland Water District communications team, outside marketing firm, photographers, and other brand partners.

- Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Experience in photography.
- Basic proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tik Tok) and digital tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate a passion for creativity and interest in human behavior and influential communications.
- Familiarity with graphic design, multimedia software, and email marketing platforms a plus (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Davinci Resolve, iMovie, Canva, Constant Contact, etc.).
